As an Annual Passholder, and even before I got my AP, there are things that I learned both by experience and from watching other people in the Parks. Disneyland is the Happiest Place on Earth, but avoiding these 5 things can help your vacation be even better.
1. Don’t block the walkways
This seems like such a simple concept, doesn’t it? Unfortunately people just don’t understand it. Don’t stop in the middle of a walkway. Especially if you have a big group. Where do I see this the most? Outside Big Thunder Mountain, Adventureland, and outside Haunted Mansion. If you need to stop for whatever reason, PLEASE move off to the side so you are not blocking traffic.
2. Don’t forget your portable charger.
Having your phone die inside the parks is a recipe for disaster. You can no longer access the Disney Parks App, If your group gets split up you can’t call them, if your phone is your only camera you won’t be able to take any pictures, and games on your phone are also a lifesaver for waiting in line, especially with kids.
Disney does rent portable chargers in the parks but they are $30+ and you are much better off just bringing your own! I have this one from Amazon. It’s only $18 and charges my phone multiple times. Plus it has two USB ports on it so two people can charge at a time.
3. Don’t share your tickets
Ticket sharing is less common now that Disney takes your picture the first time you use your ticket. Back in the day, people used to use tricks to transfer their hand stamps and allow other people to use their tickets when they were finished with them. It is not aloud. Blake Lively talked about this on David Letterman a while ago. Make sure every person has the right ticket each time you enter the park. Do it before you get to the turnstiles so you don’t hold up the line.
4. Don’t try to sneak kids onto rides
Height requirements suck but they exist for a reason. If your child is under the height limit, don’t take them on the ride. Sometimes cast members will ask you to remeasure your child at the front of the line just to make sure. Let them. Fighting them on it will just make a scene and hold up the line for everyone else.
5. Don’t forget to take pictures
I’m a majorly sentimental person and LOVE pictures so this is a no brainer for me. Take as many photos as you can. Let your kids take photos (my parents used to get us the cheap disposable cameras when we were little and I still have all of the pictures!), You are about to make memories of a lifetime and you’ll want to remember them. Even if it’s just a snapshot or selfie of you waiting in line, you’ll be grateful for it later.
Bonus: Don’t stress!
No one is going to be happy if mom and dad are stressing out about the whole trip. Get a churro, hug your favorite characters, dance along to the parades, and HAVE FUN!
